Time to visit Barbados again

Holidays in Barbados

It’s been a long time coming, since 2019 to be precise, but finally, the opportunity has arisen once again, to visit Barbados.

There have been lots of changes since I was last there, not least of which the changes brought about by the pandemic. But on top of that, Barbados has become a republic, they have issued new banknotes (yes, I’ve got my travel money ready!) and Prime Minister Mia Motley is asking Britain to give Barbados two trillion pounds. We’ll see how that one goes.

Politics and global issues aside, the best part for me will be meeting some of our friends on the island, people we haven’t seen, other than on Facebook, for some time. Add to that the warm sunshine, clear seas, and cold beer and it is set to be a great holiday.

I’ll be using some of the time visiting the Bureau in Bridgetown to uncover more philatelic gems and as always, I’ll be sending myself back some Registered covers from different post offices around the island.

I’m also on the lookout for any stamp collectors that might live in Barbados and if you are one, or know one, please drop a comment below as I’d love to meet up.  Finding fellow collectors is challenging at times and getting modern postal history, just plain old envelopes with stamps on, is very hard indeed. No one appears to be collecting them and I’d love to find someone who could supply them to me on a regular basis.

So, to get in the mood, here are a couple of photos from my last visit, and the next time you hear from me I should be on the beach with a cold Banks in my hand!
