New 70th Anniversary of the Barbados Fire Service stamp release due imminently

Barbados Mystery Stamp

News from Bridgetown indicates that there will be a new stamp issue on 29th September 2025 to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Barbados Fire Service.

This isn’t the first time the fire service have been honoured on a set of stamps, as they were featured back in 2005 on their 50th anniversary.

On that occasion the release featured a set of five stamps with values of 5c, 10c, 90c, $1.15 and $2.50. The stamps are shown below in case you haven’t previously seen them.

So far, there’s no indication of how many stamps will be in this new issue, nor at what value, however if it follows a similar pattern to recent issues (2022/23) we could expect to see values of 10c, 65c, $1.40 and $2.20, these being the most frequently used stamps today. Both the Pottery set of 2022 and the 50th Anniversary of the Central Bank of Barbados set in 2023 had these values in them.

The first Barbados Fire service set was an interesting mix of old and new, with stamps in black and white showing the old uniforms and an old fire tender, along with the more modern equipment, in colour, showing the people and machines used at that time.

No doubt the equipment has changed over the past 20 years so expect to see some updated images of what is being used today, or perhaps an update on the number of fire stations which in 2005 stood at six.

Whatever the designs, it will be wonderful to see the new stamps and it continues the tradition of Barbados stamp issues in that it celebrated the people, the culture and the history of the island.

As soon as we have any images to show you I’ll add a new post to the website and let you know.
